Introduction

This amazing tour features two treasured destinations just 90 minutes from Shanghai. You'll first visit Suzhou, famous for its canals, bridges and classical gardens including your choice of Humble Administrator’s Garden, dating to 1513, containing zigzag bridges over connected pools, Tiger Hill Island , home to the 7-story, leaning Cloud Rock Pagoda at its summit and Lingering Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Site.

Close by you'll then visit the ancient Zhouzuang Ancient Water Town, the only AAAAA designated Water Town by UNESCO, and the N0.1 water town in China. Including the Fuan Bridge built in 1355, the Shen House built in 1742 and range of canals, ancient archways and towers. Take a gondola ride along the winding canals to see the local life along its banks. You'll travel back in time to historic China and bring home a spectacular memory.

For most travelers, your guide will pick you up in the lobby of your downtown Shanghai hotel or other meeting point at 8:30AM. The timing and best route of sites sometimes depend on the conditions. Humble Administrator’s Garden

These classical gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll make a visit to the exquisitely beautiful Humble Administrator’s Garden. Its buildings, rippling waters, tranquil bridges and immaculate grounds are a feast for your senses. Alternatively, you can choose Tiger Hill, a symbol of Suzhou and a saying goes, "A trip to Suzhou is not complete without a visit to Tiger Hill."

No.1 Silk Factory of China

You'll discover the history, culture, and art of silk, and learn how silk is made from the mulberry to the loom.

Zhouzhuang Water Town

Zhouzhuang is 30 km southeast of Suzhou and one of the most famous water townships in China, noted for its profound cultural background, the well preserved ancient residential houses and the elegant watery views. It has been called the "Venice of the East". Zhouzhuang is surrounded and divided by lakes and rivers. Two twin Bridges, the Shide Bridge and Yongan Bridge were built in the Wanli era (1573-1619) of the Ming Dynasty are considered the symbol of Zhouzhuang.

Gondola Ride

It's the perfect way to experience how local residents traveled for hundreds of years and get an insight into the movement of people and goods that made this little town so prosperous.

Local Delicacy Tasting

Enjoy a range of local treats such as as sticky rice dumplings (zong zi) and steamed pork wrapped in bamboo leaves (zha rou) as well as traditional Chinese candies.

After your tour, your guide will drop you off at your starting point or desired ending location.

Note: This tour can also start as late as 1:00 PM if you would like to experience the unique evening views of Tongli.
As the old town of Suzhou is under construction for subway lines, the Administrator’s Garden, The Lion Forest Garden and Suzhou Museum are difficult to access. We suggest to visit Lingering Garden, Tiger Hill or Master of Nets Garden instead.
