This day tour of Xian goes deep in its Tang history and more. You'll visit four unique areas of Xian, each with a special story to tell. You'll explore Tang Dynasty rule at the relics of Daming Park, visit a popular bustling food street with something for all your senses, browse an elegant museum of over 380,000 artifacts and visit an ancient pagoda. Once you've seen the Terracotta Warriors, this is a great way to go deeper into Xian's sites and culture.

Itinerary

As this is a private tour, you can choose your desired starting point and time when you book. For most travelers, your guide will pick you up in the lobby of your downtown Xian hotel or other meeting point at 9:00AM. The timing and best route of sites sometimes depend on the conditions. Our expert guides will discuss the best day with you when you meet.

Daming Palace Heritage Park

The Daming Palace was the imperial palace complex of the Tang dynasty dating from 7th century and the seat of Tang emperors for more than 220 years. Today, it is designated as a national heritage site of China. The site of the Palace was discovered in 1957 and excavations of the Hanyuan Hall and other halls began. This site is mostly a park today, you can still visualize the immensity and power of the Tang dynasty including a replica of what that palace looked like in its time.

 

Shaanxi History Museum of Xian

Shaanxi History Museum was constructed from 1983 and hosts a collection of 370,000 objects. The museum is architecturally in the Tang style, with a "hall in center, storied buildings in corners". It is elegant and dignified, on a large scale, with a combination of traditional architecture and modern technology. A relaxing way to learn about so much of China and Xian's history.

Small Goose Pagoda

The Small Wild Goose Pagoda completed in 709, during the Tang dynasty under Emperor Zhongzong with fifteen levels of tiers. Pilgrims brought sacred Buddhist writings to the temple and pagoda from India, as the temple was one of the main centers in Chang'an for translating Buddhist texts. A unique historical site and place to learn more of China's Buddhist roots and Tang Dynasty.

 

Yongxing Fang Pedestrian Street

This Xian street is a mosaic of food, local shops and street activity. While the Muslim Quarter is most famous for Muslim Food, Yongxing fang is richer in Shaanxi-style kinds of local food and snacks. It consists of ancient styled buildings, decorated archways, a public square and peestrian Street, etc. You'll explore local Xian culture along with Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture and patterns along the way. You'll also have the chance to sample a wide range of snacks from steamed sliced pastry and various noodle styles.

After your tour, your guide will drop you off at your starting point or desired ending location.
