China Covid Travel Policy Update
Updated May 01, 2021
We understand it’s complicated to get complete information on today’s travel policies. Even though we’re in direct contact with China’s travel bureaus, they don’t always know the latest. Here is what we do know below and we recommend if you’re planning to visit us soon (and of course we hope you are 🙂 then contact us for the latest and we’ll do our best. Please know that if you do book with us, you can cancel at anytime up to a day before your tour date.
Tourist Travelers
If you are planning to visit on a tourist visa, then we expect China to open up soon to international visitors from select countries that have Covid vaccine systems and validation procedures in place. We expect this to be in October of 2021 (this year!)
As an example of the re-opening process, China announced one April 21st, 2021 that you can travel through Dallas if you to have proof of being vaccinated from a variety of suppliers such as Pfizer, Moderna and J&J. And you have recently tested negative for Covid. This is focused on business travelers today. See the announcement and details here:Â

The best course of action is to ensure to apply for a visa and through that process, you’ll get the latest information. Generally, we believe that if you’re planning to travel after sprint of 2022, you should be safe to travel if you have current vaccinations, but you may still need a recent Covid test that shows negative. The requirement is COVID-19 nucleic acid and IgM serum antibody tests from an approved institution.Â

Jenny's Story
Like many Chinese, I grew up in the countryside of Jiangxi province. My parents worked hard in the factories and on our small farm. When I was old enough I was asked to go to Shanghai to make money to support the family. But this was difficult without a high education and at that time I knew little English. I often met Westerners who shared advice which always included building new skills. So I learned English and eventually found the tourism industry and became an English-speaking guide.
I loved meeting people and seeing their face light up with new experiences and I could tell that my enthusiasm for sharing the culture and history of China made them happy. I learned the secrets of being a great guide were simple – care about the customer, meet their needs, help them learn, reduce their stress and of course, help them have fun! I was a pretty good guide and along the way met many great friends who were also guides (some better than me I have to admit!).
>After three years of being a guide, I decided to start Jenny’s Shanghai Tours. Of course I wanted to make more money, but it’s deeper than that. I want to create the best experiences for visitors, help my guide friends work with the best customers to make a decent living and to build relationships with people so I can help them again and again.
In 2020, after expanding to Beijing, Xian and all over China with new friends, amazing guides we changed our name to Jenny’s China Tours. Perhaps someday, we can expand even further to Jenny’s Asia Tours while never losing our on creating the best experience possible wherever you want to go.
That’s my story. I look forward to hearing yours soon!
